Allison Darcy is a novelist, educator, and college admissions essay coach currently living in North Carolina. She holds an MA in Religious Studies from Duke University and an MFA in Fiction from North Carolina State University, where she taught courses in beginning creative nonfiction writing. As an application coach, Allison combines her teaching experience with her three years working with the admissions team of a selective liberal arts university in order to guide students in writing essays that tell their most dynamic stories through their own authentic voice.
Allison's creative work has garnered acclaim in numerous contests and fellowships and can be found in such publications as Jewish Currents and The Tishman Review. She writes novels that meld ancient and imagined mythology with questions of modern identity, and is represented by Sam Morgan at The Lotts Agency.
Allison is also a Jewish youth professional, a Hebrew calligrapher, a circus arts enthusiast, a disability advocate, and probably many other things she hasn't realized yet. In her free time, she mostly obeys the whims of her 50 lb lapdog, Freyja.
